Friday’s draw set up a round-of-eight tie full of interesting plot lines, with Madrid playing the first leg in Munich on April 12, and the return taking place at the Bernabeu the following Tuesday.
Zidane played under Ancelotti at Juventus, Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich Live was then assistant when the Italian guided Madrid to the 2014 Champions League final, and was still at the Bernabeu when president Florentino Perez fired the much-loved “Carletto” just 12 months later.
Speaking at a news conference just after the draw was completed, Zidane said he had learned a lot working under Ancelotti and fondly remembered their time working together.
“It will be master against pupil for sure,” Zidane said. “I was with him as assistant. l learned a lot from him. I’ve not spoken with him [since the draw]. He did great things at this club, and is a very good person. I had the good fortune to get to know him well.”
The former Galactico player said that in the end it would be the players who decided which team made the semifinals, and recalled how much he had looked forward to such huge occasions in his own days on the pitch.
“You must remember it is the players who will be on the pitch,” Zidane said. “The most important is not the system, it is the attitude, the determination of the players.
“I live for these games — when I played I preferred these type of games. These [occasions] are very exciting for me.”
The draw means that will have a very challenging April, with their La Liga schedule including home games against Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona plus a trip to relegation battling Sporting Gijon, all around the two games against Bayern.
“Everything will be decided after the coming international break,” Zidane said. “April will be tremendous for us. But we have a group, a squad, to do good things. The best part of the season is coming now, when it is decided.
“The players know that and we are focused on our objectives — which is to try and win everything.”
With Gareth Bale returning from suspension, Zidane is expected to name his “BBC” strikeforce in the strongest available XI in Saturday’s La Liga game at Athletic Bilbao, who are unbeaten at home in La Liga since August.
“They have only lost to Barcelona [at home],” Zidane said. “We know that it will be an even more difficult game than others we have. We know it is a warm atmosphere in the stadium.”We must try and play a great game, Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich Live Stream and keep picking up points as we have been doing. These are three very important points for us. They have been playing well.
We will suffer at times — but we have confidence and personality. And we must put in all those ingredients to win.”
“[Mbappe] almost signed for Real Madrid, was very close, but in the end he went to Monaco,” he said. “Today I cannot talk of that. We know he is a good player, what he is doing for his age is fantastic. But nothing more. What is most important is what we can do tomorrow in the game.”
Arturo Vidal says he does not expect Real Madrid to sit back against Bayern Munich as Atletico Madrid have done in the past.
Atletico beat Bayern in last year’s Champions League semifinals on away goals, as Diego Simeone’s side went ahead early in the first leg at home and then defended for most of the remainder of the tie, leading Vidal to say at the time that the side who “played ugly football” had progressed without deserving to.
Simeone’s side also won 1-0 when the two teams met in the group stages last September, while the Bundesliga team’s 1-0 victory in the reverse game in November came after the group standings had already been decided.
Bayern now face Real Madrid in the quarterfinals, with the first leg in Munich on Wednesday April 12, and the return at the Bernabeu six days later. Speaking to AS, Vidal said he expected these games to be different as Los Blancos were a “big team” with the “same quality” as his own side.
“It will be very different, as do not sit back and wait as Atletico did,” Vidal said. “Real are a big team who must come out to play, and show they are champions. But it will be a nice game for us. Taking on a rival of the same quality is always good.”
Nevertheless Vidal expects his side to control possession in the two games, and his team will have to be wary of the potential of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and company on the counter-attack.
“The key is to be very focused when we lose the ball, as they will try and take advantage of these opportunities,” Vidal added. “I don’t believe they will come out to try and take the game to us, we will always have control. But we must make sure to make the fewest mistakes possible, and take advantage of our chances to score as soon as possible Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Live .”
Asked about recent comments when he predicted he would score a few goals himself against Madrid, Vidal said that had been a joke made while on international duty with Chile and he was expecting a very even encounter over the two legs.
“I said that after the Chile game,” he said. “It will be a nice match, I am really looking forward to it. We are up against a team at the same level as us. We will see who is stronger, but I am very confident in this team, and that this will be our year in the Champions League.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s team are 13 points clear in the Bundesliga and have won their last six domestic games while scoring 24 goals and conceding zero. Vidal said he was happy they would have two more testing fixtures before hosting Madrid next Wednesday.
“Before Madrid we have two very tough games against Hoffenheim and Dortmund,” he said. “These two clashes will prepare us 100 percent to take on Madrid in good form. We hope to be able to ensure qualification in the first game.”
Ancelotti’s experience as Madrid coach from 2013 to 2015 would not have a big influence on the games between his former and current teams, Vidal predicted.
“I don’t know,” he said. “He knows all the players, but these are different games. We know what Ancelotti asks of us, but we do not know how they will play and how they will come out against us. I believe the team which is more focused will qualify.”
Arturo Vidal admits Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Live Stream are facing a team of a similar level when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, but wants his side to have the tie over and done with after the first leg.
Liverpool fear worst for Mane injuryThe Bundesliga giants booked their spot in the last eight of the competition when they beat Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate, 5-1 in each game.
Madrid, meanwhile, got the better of Napoli, beating the Italian side 6-3 across two legs.
Vidal acknowledges Zinedine Zidane’s men will provide a tougher challenge than Arsenal, but he still expects them to be in control of the games.
“Before Madrid we have to play two very strong matches against Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund. These games will prepare us 100% percent to face Madrid in good shape,” he told AS.
“We hope to finish qualification in the first match.
“The key is to be very focused when we lose the ball because they will try to take advantage of the opportunities that are created.
“I don’t think they will be in charge of the game, we will always have control, but we must try to make as few mistakes as possible and take advantage of the chances that are created as soon as possible.”
Varane ruled to miss Madrid’s games vs Bayern and Barca
Bayern were robbed of a place meeting Real in the final of the competition last term, losing to Atletico Madrid on away goals in the semi-finals. However, Vidal feels the meeting with Los Blancos will be more exciting.
“It will be very different because Madrid don’t get behind and don’t wait like Atletico did,” he added.
“Real are a big team who must go out to play, dominate the game and prove that they are the champions. That’s why it will be a nice game for us. Facing a rival of the same quality is always good.”
Real Madrid defender Pepe has broken two ribs in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid and is set to miss the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich .
The centre-back collided with team-mate Toni Kroos during the second half of the Bernabeu stalemate on Saturday afternoon.
After being taken to hospital for a scan, the Portuguese was ruled out of both legs of the tie against the Bundesliga champions.
A statement from the club read: “After the examinations carried out today on Pepe at the Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich Live University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with fractures in seventh and eighth ribs on the left side.” Source
